10 Christmas Food Art Ideas for Kids

With Christmas round the corner, I am sure some parents like me would be searching out innovative ideas for their kids. From playing to crafting new recipes to creating fun foodarts … the list goes on and on.

Hence I decided to put a list of easy, fun and innovative food art ideas which I have been creating since past 2 years and sharing with my insta audience that perfectly meets the Indian food taste buds.

Also I assure you, some of these ideas would be a perfect DIY activity which you can do with your toddler and older kids as well. I bet they will be thrilled with these fun ideas and also get a chance to play with food.

10 CHRISTMAS FOOD ART IDEAS FOR KIDS

  1. CHRISTMAS TREE USING DRAGON FRUIT

I have tried to capture the snow clad mountains ( coniferous trees ). Have made the food art using the following ingredients

  • Dragon Fruit
  • Pomegranates
  • Grapes
  • Date Balls

 

2.  CHRISTMAS TREE USING MOONG DAL CHILLA

This is an interesting foodart used making green moong dal, one of the most healthiest meals that we can give to kids. Once the chilla’s are ready you need to fold them in triangle shape and lay one by one to give the christmas tree look. Place the biscuit, gems and some tomatoes as shown in the video to complete the look.

3. SANTACLAUS MADE FROM APPLE AND COTTAGE CHEESE

This food art was one of the most loved by my little one . Afterall who which kid does not like santaclaus. Santa just adds to the Christmas pleasures. For this food art I have made use of 

  • Bread
  • Apple
  • Cottage Chees
  • Black Olives 

4.  CHRISTMAS TREE WITH CHUTNEY BREAD

Simple yet very effective food art made using the classic chutney bread open sandwich and garnished with some carrots. You can use any other vegetable for garnish like cucumber, tomatoes or berries etc .

5. CHRISTMAS WREATH WITH KIWI FRUIT

One of my favorite creations to get kids eat lot of fruits. Love the colour, vibrancy and simplicity of the food art. Hope you too would love to make  this wreath for your kids.

6.  SNOWMAN MADE OUT OF DALIA ( BROKEN WHEAT)

One thing as a child I always wished to make Snowman using snow. However living in mumbai I never got the opportunity to travel in snow clad region so  I decided to curate it on my plate.

This snow man face is made out of sweet broken wheat porridge which is super healthy for kids and a perfect treat too.. try this out for your little munchkin.

7. REINDEER WITH PEAR FRUIT

Animals are kid’s first love and a Christmas food art is incomplete without the Reindeer. Made using a single ingredient Pear, this reindeer helps you child to eat healthy.

8.  CHRISTMAS TREE MADE WITH SALAD

As a parent, I am very much aware how difficult it is to feed kids veggies in their meals. It’s really a roll-a-coaster ride for some moms with lot of pleading, tricking etc ideas they come out with each time. Well this food art seems to solve the purpose  and will definitely get your fussy eater to be found of variety of veggies. All you have to do is get try and place your salad into the shape of the Christmas tree and voila it’s ready.

9. SNOWMAN FOODART WITH IDLI

Making Snowman with healthy ingredients can get tricky but is worth every bit. Although in my Snowman, I have missed giving him hands you can add chocolate sauce to fill  the missing parts. Also Idli, seems to be one of the favorite’s kid food and can be made interesting adding some dryfruits and fruits to complete the look

10. REINDEER USING DATES

Another attempt in making quick easy to do DIY food activity using dates. One can slit the dates, remove the seeds and stiff with dry fruits, berries etc to make it wholesome. To make this foodart you need

  • Dates
  • Carrots
  • Radish for the eyes
