Healthy Eggless Wheat Waffles Recipes

Healthy Eggless Wheat Waffles Recipes

Over the past few months, the entire nation has been living in their little cocoon because of the unwanted crisis the globe has been facing. However as mothers not only our workload seems to have increased but we have turned home chefs.  One such mom I know has crafted her recipes during the lockdown earning the title of homechef.

Today,  I am sharing one of her recipes (vegetarian) that my son drools for and most importantly she has given an healthy alternative to one of the desserts we love. Meet Reetika Jalan, a mom of 2 kids and a Chartered Account by profession who found passion in cooking and serving delightful meals. She runs a food page “foodfrommylens_rj” sharing interesting and mouthwatering recipes and explicit plating skills. Her recipes are vegetarian and I personally love her Eggless Wheat Waffles recipe that i am sharing here today on my blog.

  1. 1/3 cup Melted Butter
  2. 1/3 cup Malai/ Cream
  3. 3/4 cup Wheat Flour
  4. 1/4 cup Rawa (Semolina)
  5. Baking Soda pinch
  6. 1 tsp baking powder
  7. 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  8. 1/3 cup warm Milk
  9. 1 tbsp Cocoa Powder

  • Pre-heat the Waffle maker before you start the process
  • Take a deep bowl. Add butter and cream. mix and whisk until a smooth paste is formed
  • Add warm milk to this paste and whisk well into a fine liquid. This warm milk is added to give fine consistency to the mixture and avoid lumps
  • Next add sugar and vanilla essence to this mix and again whisk for 2 to 3 mins
  • In another bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together
  • Next add all the dry ingredients slowly in the wet mixture to make a semi thick batter (like that of dhokla or cake)
  • Pour in 1 big spoon of batter into the Waffle maker mould and let it cook for approx 10 mins
  • Once cooked, remove the waffles from the waffle maker, let it cool till the waffle turns a little crispy
  • Place the Waffles in the serving platter and garnish with some fruits, nutella, cream or chocolate sauce.
  • You can even top it up with ice-cream and let kids enjoy and relish the flavour of wheat waffles

Few  Suggestions

  • You can add coffee powder to the above recipe to give a different flavour
  • You can keep it simple by removing cocoa and adding vanilla flavour
  • You can increase or decrease sugar to match to your sweet tooth
  • Always grease the waffle maker with a little butter before pouring the batter
  • You can use alternative toppings like honey, maple syrup. You can even make use of coconut sugar or palm jaggery instead of regular sugar
